Delhi Dynamos striker Robin Singh came to the rescue for the home side in the dying moments of the game to secure a point for his team. The draw keeps Delhi fighting for top-spot tied with FC Goa at 14 points.
Lacklustre game turns into a thriller
The opening moments of the game saw an equal surge of attacks from both teams. But Carlos’ boys held more possession and controlled the midfield better giving a hard-time to the visitors. Not many scoring opportunities were created during the first half and Malouda saw an opportunity sending in a through ball. However, the effort was blocked by Bertin to keep the scores from changing.
Mumbai City FC came out more aggressive in the second half as India captain Sunil Chhetri saw more of the ball and created chances for his team. Eventually the game started opening up and a goal seemed inevitable. And Mumbai City FC was the one with the lead through Piquionne taking advantage of a good through ball from Selim Benachour.
With lead in the 70th minute Mumbai fans could almost see the victory and three crucial points that would take them third on the table.
Robin Singh Spoils Mumbai’s party
The Delhi Dynamos striker had some other plans in his mind. Robin Singh attacked the Mumbai goal often after conceding the first. The closest Singh came to scoring an equalizer was in the 80th minute but the header was tipped off by Subrata Paul.
The next chance came for the Delhi team in the final minute of the injury time, in the very last shot of the game when Delhi struck the equalizer and took a point from the game.
