Great performances from Abhishek Verma and Deepika Kumari in the World Cup finals have been followed up by another string of good performance by the Indian archers at the Asian Archery Championships.
Jyothi Surekha Venam and Rajat Chauhan won gold medals in the women’s and men’s compound respectively. Jyoti faced Iran’s Afsaneh Shafielavijeh in the finals. The Indian managed a score of 141 against her opponents 137 to win the gold. Rajat Chauhan took on Choi Yong Hee for his gold medal.
And the excitement for the archery fans continued as the men’s compound team of Abhishek Verma, Sarvesh Pareek and Rajat Chauhan knocked another gold medal for the country making a hat-trick of gold medals.
On the other hand, the women’s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram and Laxmirani Majhi settled for the silver medal.
Earlier the Indian mixed recurve team of Deepika Kumari and Jayanta Talukdar overcame their Chinese opponents in the bronze medal play-off match.
