Indian golfer Chirag Kumar announced himself back on the golf course with a fantastic win at the Panasonic Open in New Delhi. He bettered his record for the year from his runner-up finish at the Venetian Macau open over a month ago.
Chirag Kumar hoped for a good finish
If I can put four days together, I am sure I will be able to put up a good show this week,” said Chirag to Economic Times prior to the tournament. Speaking about his past performance at the Panasonic Open he added, “I have done decent in this tournament in the last five years but obviously not as much as I would have liked. Hopefully that will change soon.”
Finally at this year’s tournament Chirag managed to live up to his own expectations. The Indian kept up his form at the Panasonic Open maintaining his lead till the very end. He finished with a four day aggregate of 13-under 275 three shots ahead of Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant and Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman who are tied 2nd in the competition.
Other Indians at the tournament fared well as Jyoti Randhawa made a startling comeback on the final day to tie 4th with compatriot Shubhankar Sharma. While Manav Jaini, Shankar Das and Vikrant Chopra also finished in the top 10 at the Panasonic Open.
