Kerala Blasters came out with a dominating 4-1 win against Northeast United to keep their hopes alive in the ISL.
Kerala opened the game with the fastest goal in ISL history when Chris Dagnall found the back of the net in just 29 seconds. It was pretty much a one way traffic afterwards as the midfield diamond of Pulga, Cavin Lobo, Josu and Mehtab Hossain gave a tough time to Northeast United.
Lobo and Josu combined in the 21st minute to double the lead, with the former scoring the goal. The only clear cut chance for Northeast United in the first half came thanks to Cedric Hengbart. He had a great header on target but it was kept away brilliantly by Stephen Bywater.
Kerala Blasters pile up the lead in the second half
Northeast United came out a bit more lively in the second half. They were creating chances but it was Kerala who scored again. The goal came thanks to Antonio German in the 74th minute. Just minutes later, Dagnall made it four to seal the game.
The home fans did get something to cheer in the added time when Nicolas Velez pulled one back. But it was nothing more than a consolation. With the win, Kerala are now seventh in the table with 11 points while Northeast remains fifth with 13 points. However, the goal difference of Northeast took a big blow as it currently stands at -7.
