Young West Brom attacker Adil Nabi struck the first goal for the Delhi Dynamos breaking the deadlock in the 35th minute. From that point onwards it was all one sided as Pune failed to cause trouble for the hosts and David Platts men conceded two more goals before getting a consolation goal from the last kick of the game. Delhi Dynamos won the game with a comfortable margin at 3-1 equalling the leaders FC Goa with 18 points.
However, the goal difference between the two sides separates them at this stage.
Delhi Dynamos cruise to victory
The home team started on an attacking note and Vinicius struck the ball from distance that went wide of the goal. The attacks from Delhi kept on flowing and the Pune defense failed to counter early in the game.
Soon after the half hour mark, Pune paid the price for their lack of solidity in the defense. And the West Brom loanee made no mistake in putting the ball in the net for his first goal for the Delhi Dynamos. The shot resulted from a Malouda corner that was flicked toward Nabi by Robin.
Another five minutes later, Anas Edathodika headed the ball in from another Malouda corner to double the lead ahead of half-time.
Everything seemed in favour of Carlos’ side on the night as the visitors failed in the second half. And Delhi was en-route to victory when Pune defender Govin Singh made it worse for the visitors as the referee showed him the second yellow-card. Moments later Riise added another for the hosts to assure the three points.
Later in the dying minutes Pune marquee signing Adrian Mutu struck from a free-kick to lower the margin of defeat.
