Subrata Pal, arguably one of the most decorated Indian Goal-keepers celebrates his 29th birthday today. Nicknamed ‘The Indian Spider-Man’, Subrata has been a major name in the Indian football team ever since he made his debut back in 2007.
Born in Bengal, Subarata was sent to the Tata Football Academy in 2002. He then managed to get in the Mohun Bagan team just two years later but could not shine in the club. This spell with East Bengal, however, was different. He managed to build a reputation there and then took his club career to Pune FC and Prayag united. He also played for Danish Club FC Vestsjælland at one point of his career.
The best moment of Subrata Pal’s International career probably came in the 2009 Nehru Cup. Subrata came up with an excellent performance in the penalty shootout against Syria which in turn gave India the championship win.
Pal has been widely recognized as the most successful Indian Goalkeeper of his time and continues to don that title during his stay with Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League.
