Delhi manager Roberto Carlos had stated ahead of the match the pressure was all on Chennaiyin FC. His words seem to have taken a wrong turn as his side is thrashed 4-0 by the Chennai forwards in a one-sided match. The win helps Chennai move up to the fourth spot in the league table.
Chennaiyin FC forwards stole the show against Delhi Dynamos
The Chennaiyin strike force consisting of Stiven Mendoza, Bruno Pelissari and Jeje Lalpekhlua score for the home side. Mendoza was the first to break the deadlock in the 17th minute and Pelissari doubled the lead four minutes later.
Both the goals came as a result of goalkeeping errors. In the first, Doblas came off his line to clear the ball from Lalpekhlua which went straight to Mendoza. While, a miss kick from Doblas led to Pelissari’s goal with a combined effort from Lalpekhlua, Mendoza and the scorer himself.
The first twenty minutes almost sealed the fate of the game, but the Chennaiyin attackers were hungry for more. And Jeje Lalpekhlua added goals before and after the half-time to take a 4-0 lead in the 54th minute.
Having slotted four goals, it was Delhi who were now under pressure and Chennaiyin concentrated calmly on the defense and the match ended 4-0 for the hosts.
