The journey of Indians in the Dubai Super Series tournament ended as Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth crashed out.
Saina Nehwal had a strong chance of making it into the next round after her win over World Number one Carolina Marin. However, the Indian starlet could not match up to Tai Tzu Ying in the crucial match.
Saina and Ying engaged in a hard fought three game match which ended in favour of Ying for a score of 16-21, 21-18, 21-14. Saina losing after going one game ahead is indeed a disappointment and the loss marks her exit from the tournament.
She lost two out of her three group stage matches and finished third in the group with one point. Nozomi Okuhara finished on top of the group with three points when Carolina Marin finished second with one point.
Elsewhere, Kidambi Srikanth exited the tournament after Chou Tien Chen defeated him for a score of 21-17, 21-13. Srikanth could not win any matches in the tournament and lost all three to finish last in his group. Kenta Momota topped his group with three points when Viktor Axelson finished second with two points.
