The 2016 edition of Indian Super League received a big blow when Roberto Carlos revealed that he would not be returning to the tournament. In addition to Roberto Carlos, Zico is likely to miss the next season of the football league as well.

“Next season I won’t be coming. In every professional life, you go with opportunities that come. You perform well and someone else comes with an offer, that’s how it goes,” Carlos said during a press conference.

Carlos has already informed the Delhi Dynamos president about his decision to skip the next season while Zico said that he is going to analyse the options that he has elsewhere.

“There are some offers from clubs European and Asian clubs that I am analysing. National teams can happen but it’s tough because they are in preparation phase for the World Cup,” Zico said.

The absence of these two men would be a big blow for the Indian Super League next time around as they were two of the most charismatic coaches this time around. In addition, the decision has cast questions about the hype surrounding ISL. Some say that the league has lost its purpose while others say that it still needs a string of changes to stay relevant.
