After making history by winning the Ladies European Tour’s Lalla Aicha Tour School title in Morocco, Aditi Ashok has set her sight on a Rio Olympics berth.
Golf is all set to make a return to the Olympics after a long time and Aditi is confident of making it.
“I would work on each event and try and get my world ranking as high as I can. Olympics is the goal but it is like any other event that’s going to come. It would be great if I make it, but I don’t want to get into the whole selection and stuff. If I just keep playing well and do my best then my chances will be good,” the young Indian golfer said.
The 17-year-old Indian recently entered the record books when she became the first Indian to clinch a Qualifying School Golf event. She is also the youngest golf player to win such an event.
The win has helped Aditi to secure playing rights for the 2016 Ladies European tour.
“I’ve always wanted to be a professional because I just love playing golf. It’s been my dream ever since I was a kid so it’s great to make the first step in getting there. I’m really happy. It’s an amazing feeling because I came into the tournament obviously wanting to give myself a chance to win but also just wanting to play consistent enough to get a card. Winning it and getting a card is just that much better,” Aditi said after her historic win.
