Chris Gayle blasted the fastest half century in T20 cricket in the Big Bash League earlier today, equaling the record set by Yuvraj Singh in 2007. Opening the innings for the Melbourne Renegades against the Adelaide Strikers today, Gayle went ballistic right from the very first over. The knock came during the Renegades’ chase of a target of 171 set by the Strikers. However, despite Gayle’s brilliance, the Renegades fell short by 27 runs in the end.
Gayle’s scoreline looked something like this – 2 0 6 6 6 6 2 6 6(free hit) 4 1 6
The breathtaking innings came to an end in the 6th over when the big Jamaican miscued a Travis Head delivery while attempting to muscle yet another six over deep mid-wicket. Gayle’s West Indian team mate tweeted following his dismissal – “Sky’s are clear now.. !! Strikers we can see the blue now..”
