Uttar Pradesh Wizards dominate in goalless first half:

The game kicked off with the home side trying to take control of the game by holding the ball and the ploy worked in their favour as the increasing ball possession put the visitors under pressure. The Uttar Pradesh Wizards made numerous circle penetrations but could not convert any of those chances. Delhi on the other hand made efforts to combine well in the attacking front but the UP defenders did not allow the forwards to settle into the game so easily.

The deadlock was finally broken in the third quarter when the Delhi Waveriders were awarded a penalty corner. Rupinderpal Singh executed his drag-flick with the greatest precision and the charging UP defenders, including goalkeeper Sreejesh had no answer to this one. The visitors landed the knockout punch in the 59th minute through a wonderful field goal from Steven Edwards. The New Zealander dribbled the ball past two UP defenders and found Talwinder Singh waiting at the left wing. The latter then slapped the ball across and Edwards landed his stick just in time to deflect the ball into the goal.

The Uttar Pradesh Wizards were awarded a penalty corner towards the fag end of the game and Gonzalo Peillat scored a consolation goal in the event. The Argentine penalty-corner specialist backed his shot with a lot of pace and David Manchester, the Delhi keeper was beaten completely. With this win, the Delhi Waveriders extend their lead on top of the table with 10 points from 2 games. The Uttar Pradesh Wizards have 7 points from 3 games and have somehow managed to hang on to the 2nd spot.
