Indian Dominance Uncontested At South Asian Games

For the sixth consecutive day at the South Asian Games India continued its gold rush with another 15 gold medals on the day and 53 in total. At the end of the day, India succeeded in lifting the lead to more than 100 gold medals over second placed Sri Lanka, who only managed to add one gold medal to yesterday’s tally.

All India show in tennis finals at the South Asian Games

The concluding day of the tennis event at the South Asian Games ended up in a clean sweep for the Indian players. Being assured of gold and silver medals, it was a competition to emerge as India’s best at the games.

Ramkumar Ramanathan and Ankita Raina took the gold medals in the men’s and women’s singles category. Both the players doubled their gold medal tally with a win in the men’s doubles and the mixed doubles event. Ramanathan partnered Vijay Prasanth to beat Divij Sharan and Sanam Singh, on the other hand Ankita Raina paired with Divij Sharan to beat Sanam Singh and Prarthana Thombre in the mixed doubles final.

Prarthana Thombre and Sharrmadaa Baluuishika won the gold medal in the women’s doubles event beating Rishika Sunkara and Natasha Palha.

In the other events, India continued to dominate the shooting and athletics events for the sixth day. This helps India take up the tally of medals at 237 including 139 gold medals for India.
