With only the last day remaining at the South Asian Games, the Indian contingent has proven to be far more superior than any of its participating neighbours. The team has won a total of 276 medals that is 107 more than second placed Sri Lanka. India’s gold tally is at a whopping 160, while Sri Lanka has only 25 gold medals to its name in the table.
Can boxers sweep gold at South Asian Games
Six Indian boxers stormed into the final of the South Asian Games assuring at least six more silver medals to come for the country. Silver medals may seem nice but they would not want to miss out on gold medals, especially seeing how well their compatriots have performed in the other events. Olympics bronze medallist MC Mary Kom, Commonwealth Games silver medallist L Devendro Singh, world championship bronze medallist Shiva Thapa, former world champion Vikas Krishan, Manoj Kumar and Pooja Rani will all be gunning for gold in their respective weight categories.
Five time world champion Mary Kom was adjudged the winner in about 40 seconds via technical knockout as she continued on her comeback trail from an injury that kept her out of action for a long time.
Chain Singh stars with six gold medals
Olympics bound shooter Chain Singh impressed the audiences with his total of six gold medal haul at the South Asian Games. The shooters have been the stars for India throughout the games, Chain Singh proved to be better than Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang to steal the gold medal on Sunday.
