Patna Pirates took the game to high gear very early in the game and by the time it reached midway, it seemed the result had already been declared. The Pirates led by a whopping margin of 25-7 against the Puneri Paltan. However, early in the second half Pune showed why it is not such a good idea to drop guards against them. After a short stint of impressive performance from Pune, they were once again cornered by the Pirates who ended up winning 40-21 at the final whistle.
Pradeep Narwal, Rohit Kumar star for Patna Pirates
Pradeep Narwal was at his very best in the opening half and he was well supported in the second by his partner in crime Rohit Kumar. The duo took almost half the points that the Pirates scored during the entire run of play. The moment for the opposition side came for a brief period, as Patna Pirates lost focus for the early part of the second half and were made to pay the price for it.
This early scare Pirates suffered seemed certain to take them down. After suffering an all-out early in the second half Patna headed back into the contest making their defence solid and winning points by blocking the raids of Manjeet Chillar and Deepak Hooda.
The early and late onslaught by the Pirates was too much to handle for the valiant mid-game fight put up by the Puneri Paltans.
