Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt is all set to spearhead the Indian contention in the Asian Olympic Qualifiers that will be held at Astana, Kazakhstan. The Qualifiers will take place from March 18th to 20th.
The men’s squad, which will be headed by Yogeshwar Dutt, has five freestyle wrestlers and six Greco-Roman wrestlers. Yogeshwar had to overcome Amit Dhankar in the trails to book his place in the squad. This was the second high-profile match between the two wrestlers as they had earlier locked horns in the Pro Wrestling League where Yogeshwar came out winning.
Elsewhere, Rahul Aware will be competing in the 57kg category after defeating Sandeep Tomar in the trails. Somveer is another notable wrestler in the squad. He will compete in the 86kg division and booked his place by defeating Gopal Yadav.
As far as the women are concerned, six members will be representing the nation. This includes the likes of Vinesh Phogat, Babita Kumari and Navjot Kaur. Vinesh will be competing in the 48Kg category when Babita and Navjot will compete in the 53Kg and 67 Kg categories respectively.
The wrestling team is scheduled to travel to Georgia and Belarus for training stint after the event in Astana.
