The Indian Women’s cricket team heads into the Womens World T20 Tournament as the favorites to win the tournament. India will be hosting the tournament for the first time and has the record, form and home support working for them.
The team will play their first match of the tournament against Bangladesh on March 15 in Bangalore and will follow up with a clash against Pakistan on March 19. Matches against England and West indies will follow on March 22 and 27 respectively.
India managed to reach the semi-finals of the first two World Cups and then had forgettable outings on the next two tournaments as they failed to go past the group stages. This year, under the leadership of veteran Mithali Raj, India will be looking to win the title.
Mithali will be the player to watch out for in the team. She has an impressive track record with 1410 runs to her name from 55 matches at an average of 36.15 and a strike rate of 95.44.
Former captain Jhulan Goswani will also have a crucial role to play in the team and her experience is bound to come in handy throughout the tournament.
