Hello and welcome to the LIVE coverage of tonight’s game. It’s India paying Australia in a virtual quarterfinal at the ICC World T20. Earlier today, A spirited Afghan unit decimated Group 1 table toppers West Indies in a low-scoring game. Talking about this game, it’s “winner takes all” and both the teams will look to put in their best effort.

Today’s venue, the PCA Stadium in Mohali has a tendency of slowing down in the second innings and could cause problems for the chasing team. A score of 170 can be considered as a par score.

Mid-match analysis:

As expected, the pitch slowed down a bit and the Indian spinners bowled well in the middle overs. Earlier, Finch and Khawaja got Australia off to a strong start and brought up the team fifty inside 4 overs. The Indian bowling unit did well to pick up wickets at regular intervals and keep the Australian batsmen under check. In the end, they managed 160/6, thanks to a four and a six by Peter Nevill in the last two balls of the innings.

So, India need 161 runs to win @ 8 runs an over. The key here would be some patient batsmanship and good rotation of strike. This is a big ground and the Indian batsmen must look to convert ones into twos and the top order should contribute majorly to this chase if they need to keep their dream alive. Australia will have to bowl with great discipline and Steve Smith should use his slower bowlers well.. Stay tuned for the run-chase.
