Two I-League Titles, A Federation Cup and finalists in the AFC cup 2016- It is hard to believe that Bengaluru FC are just three years old in the Indian football ecosystem. The accolades won by this club are phenomenal and they strive to come back stronger in every subsequent tournament. Today, Bengaluru FC is one of the most balanced teams in the I-League and are driven by an equally technically sound and passionate coach, Albert Roca. The Sunil Chhetri-led side were crowned champions at the 2015-16 season of the Hero I-League and will look to end this season as champions too.

A great display of football helped Bengaluru reclaim their I-League title in 2016.

Bengaluru FC Make Five New Signings For I-League 2017:

The defending champions boast of extremely talented players in their lineup; be it the experience of their skipper Sunil Chhetri upfront or the exuberance of Eugeneson Lyngdoh and CK Vineeth  in the midfield or the rock-solid defense of John Johnson. The Blues have strengthened their artillery with some exciting Indian footballers who have performed exceedingly well throughout the year.

Harmanjot Khabra is a versatile midfielder who can contribute to Bengaluru FC in the defense as well.

Defensive midfielder Harmanjot Khabra was the first of the signings; the 29 year-old was signed on loan from ISL giants Chennaiyin FC for a year-long deal. The next buy was Goan midfielder Lenny Rodrigues who was also signed on loan from FC Pune City. These players come with a great deal of experience and share the national team dressing room with Bengaluru FC teammates Sunil Chhetri and Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

Arindam, Sena Ralte and Mandar Rao Desai join BFC on Loan:

Next on the shopping list were goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya, winger Mandar Rao Desai and left-back Sena Ralte. These are useful additions and one can expect these players to feature in the XI on a regular basis. Mandar, who played for FC Goa in the recently concluded Indian Super League, is a cheeky customer at the wings and produces moments of brilliance now and then with his passing. BFC also have an able goalkeeper in Arindam who will probably be the team’s second goalkeeper pick after main man Amrinder Singh. Sena Ralte too impressed one and all with his defense and will be the player to watch out for in this edition of the I-League.

The Hero I-League kicks off on January 7 with Bengaluru FC taking on Shillong Lajong FC and Aizwal FC playing against Kingfisher East Bengal.
