The international cricket calendar has grown more hectic with the passing years, and cricket lovers spread all over the world are nowadays always engaged with one tournament or the other. 2015 promises to be one of the most exciting years in the lives of cricket enthusiasts, as a packed schedule of high voltage cricket encounters awaits them. Here are the 5 cricketing events to watch in 2015 –

1. India – Australia – England Tri Series

Considering the tumultuous times which all three teams have undergone in recent times, this series is expected to send temperatures soaring. This tri-nation ODI clash shall be in focus primarily because three heavyweight contenders of the 2015 Cricket World Cup shall have the opportunity to take on each other right before the all important tournament.

While Australia shall be expected to sort out the issues with their team combination for the WC in this series, the Indian one day specialists will be hoping to make the best use of the time they spend on Australian soil, so as to gain useful familiarity with the local conditions that will be available during most of the WC matches. 2. Cricket World Cup 2015

It comes once in every four years, and yet manages to linger in our memories for the better part of our lives – the impact of the Cricket World Cup is indeed very powerful. Australia and New Zealand’s joint hosting of the coming World Cup presents middle aged viewers with the unique opportunity of remembering the previous event hosted by the two countries in 1992, where a certain Sachin Tendulkar had made his World Cup debut. Defending champions India are expected to put on a good show in the tournament, backed by a young team that has now had the experience of playing all over the world. The mega event commences on 14th February and ends with the final on 29th March 2015.

3. Indian Premier League 8th edition

The BCCI has already announced the schedule for this mega cricket event, which is going to start on April 8 and continue till May 24, 2015. The 8th edition of this cricketing extravaganza has supposedly been spiced up by the trading window which has recently been opened to franchises. Kolkata Knight Riders shall start as the defending champions but as always this tournament will be an open affair with several strong contenders.

4. The Ashes

The Ashes will witness the traditional rivals Australia and England lock horns with each other in a Test Series. The hosts for this year, England, carry scarred memories of the 5-0 drubbing that they had to face in Australia in 2013. The English must be eager to exact revenge, come June 2015.

5. England’s tour of South Africa

This will be one of the most rare 4-match Test series between the two countries, with England traveling to South Africa after quite some time. The Test series shall commence with the Boxing Day Test at Durban, and shall continue till 26th January, 2016. With South Africa currently ranked as the top Test team, this series will be an opportunity to assess the strength of  the challenger by England.
