National Billiards And Snooker Championship- Story So Far

The BRC National Billiards and Snooker Championship kicked off on January 3rd. The biggest cue-sports event of the country is staged across three main categories- Sub junior, junior and senior.

S. Srikrishna of Tamil Nadu and Ishpreet Chadha of Maharashtra shared honours in the sub-junior and junior categories. The former won the sub-junior billiards while Chadha won the sub-junior snooker as well as junior billiards. Avinash Kumar of Delhi emerged as the winner in Junior snooker. Here are the results:

S. Srikrishna bagged his maiden national championship.

Ishpreet Chadha was instrumental in his sub-junior snooker campaign. He also topped the Junior billiards table.

82nd Senior National Billiards and Snooker Championship

The senior leg of the prestigious National Billiards and snooker Championship has seen top Indian players battle it out in the group stages and seal a place in the pre-quarterfinals which begins on Thursday, January 15. Senior billiards has been underway with the likes of Pankaj Advani, Alok Kumar, Sourav Kothari and Devendra Joshi all making it to the knockout stage. Here are the fixtures:

Alok Kumar (PSPB) vs Siddharth Parikh (Railways)

Rafath Habib (Railways) vs Dhruv Sitwala (PSPB)
Balchandra Bhaskar (Karnataka) vs Vishal Madan (Maharashtra)
Jaiveer Dhingra (Maharashtra) vs Ashok Shandilya (Railways)

Pankaj Advani is the favourite to win the billiards title but he will need to watch out for India has a lot of depth in this sport.  Manish Jain of Bengal has been impressive in the group stages and can throw a challenge to the no. 1 Indian cueist. Sourav Kothari will play against his PSPB teammate Dhvaj Haria in another exciting contest.
