The third season of the Hockey India League will get underway after much anticipation on 22nd of January with a match between Kalinga Lancers and Ranchi Ray. The top hockey club competition of India has a lot to offer for hockey enthusiasts. Six teams will fight it out for the title of best club of India over a month of top level hockey.
Here is an overview of the youngest team of the competition -Kalinga Lancers- this team was added only last year. With a new coach and more experience of playing together the boys will want to get a better result as well. .
Young Guns Headline Squad
The youngest player of the team is 14 year old defender Dipsan Turkey. But don’t be fooled by the age. These men mean business. 20 year old Gurjinder Singh is the star player of the team. He has earned himself a lot of credit with recent performances. The Lancers also have Lucas Villa and Roshan Minz leading from the front.
The team is managed by old hand, AK Bansal. Bansal had led Delhi Waveriders to victory in the previous season.
Coach Jude Felix Sebastian will provide much needed experience of international and national level competitions. Olympian Lazarus Barla will support him as Assistant Coach.
The team was previously coached by former Indian Men’s team coach Terry Walsh.

The Kalinga Lancers have a very young squad. The energy and enthusiasm of the young boys will be a big asset for the team. It has a great chance of finishing in the top three if the player strike the right co-ordination between them. It is also possibly the best time for Jude Felix to lay a claim for the vacant national coaching position and his performance as coach of Kalinga will be watched closely
